POINT OF INTEREST

Socors Gate

The Portal de Socors was originally the main entrance to the fortress. This name is used to refer to secondary accesses to a fortification, intended for receiving supplies or reinforcements in case of a siege. Despite being in one of the most sheltered locations, it was protected by a small half-bastion.

When the Portal de Carros was built in 1794, this access then became the Portal de Socors (relief gate).
