Signalons qu\u2019il s\u2019agissant d\u2019un foss\u00e9 sec, car la pluie \u00e9tait collect\u00e9e dans la citerne du chemin couvert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sa fonction principale \u00e9tait de constituer une barri\u00e8re suppl\u00e9mentaire pour les assaillants de la forteresse. Ces derniers devaient en effet y descendre et tenter d&rsquo;escalader le mur oppos\u00e9 pour acc\u00e9der \u00e0 l&rsquo;int\u00e9rieur de l&rsquo;enceinte fortifi\u00e9e.
