El puente situado justo enfrente del portal ten\u00eda en sus or\u00edgenes un tramo levadizo y se construy\u00f3 para unir el camino cubierto con el revell\u00edn y la contraguardia, lo que permiti\u00f3 el acceso al tr\u00e1fico rodado. Para cerrar este espacio se levant\u00f3 este amplio portal, que con el tiempo adquiri\u00f3 su nombre.
