Ways and surroundings Hostalric
Surrounded by mountains with gentle slopes and offering splendid views of the Tordera Valley and the Montseny and Montnegre massifs, it’s the perfect setting for walks and bicycle trips along signposted routes such as the Tordera Path or local routes around the castle and mediaeval market gardens.
The two local circular routes that start at Plaça dels Bous reveal some hidden gems in and around Hostalric. The easy 4.9-km Rieres Park route takes about one and a half hours to complete, passing through the market gardens of Hostalric, along the banks of the Tordera River and Arbúcies Stream, and finally through the town’s old quarter. The route combines riverside and agricultural heritage with historical elements such as the Mill, the Forge, Hostalric Castle – Fortress, the Barcelona Gate or the towers and walls of the town.
The Castle Loop route takes you past the Mill, town walls and market gardens before looping around Hostalric Castle – Fortress and taking you back to the old quarter through the Barcelona Gate, protected by the Ararà Tower. This easy 2.4-km route takes about an hour to complete.
