About Hostalric

Hostalric has been declared a Site of National Interest and the town has conserved, almost intact, one of the finest examples of monumental heritage of the mediaeval period in Catalonia, overlooked by the imposing 18th century military fortress.

This rich architectural heritage is exemplified by a series of distinctive features which include the Torre dels Frares (Monks’ Tower), the Torre del Convent (Monastery Tower), the walled town, the Barcelona Gateway, the Relliguer cave and the fortress.

The soul of this monumental legacy is hidden in its stones and allows us to glimpse a splendid historical past:from Hostalric’s role as capital of the extensive viscountcy of Cabrera throughout the middle ages, through feudal struggles and civil war up to the Peninsular War.

Your visit to Hostalric will enable you to travel through time and enjoy a unique experience.
